Mountains to Beach - Day 3
The Dawn Raid stage of the Mountains to Beach mountain bike race commenced at 5:15am and saw riders cover 30km at Buckanderra in almost complete darkness.
The challenging course linked several tracks over rocks, grass and sand along the edge of lake Eucumbene and required riders at times to avoid rather sleepy cows.
Osprey rider Sean Bekkers took a heavy fall during the stage damaging his rear breaks however was still competitive and is now placed 9th overall. Andy Fellows, a friend of Osprey extended his commanding lead on the race and now sits 40mins in front of his nearest rival!
The Dawn Raid race stage was followed by a 40km cruise stage into Cooma with some classic cross country riding.
Tomorrow is the biggest day in the race with competitors set to cross 130km down to Bermagui.
